Discover Your Passion

If you’ve been in therapy, it can be easy to get caught up in healing & forget to focus on joy, passion & delight. Discover your passion with these posts. So often my clients are not struggling with making their dreams a reality – they are struggling with knowing what their dreams and passions are to begin with. If you’ve been through therapy for a while, it can be easy to get caught in a ‘healing grind’ and forget to focus on joy, passion and delight.

The basis for creating your best life is discovering (or uncovering) who you really are – your preferences, ways of being, ways of doing things, gifts and strengths – and operating from there. (Plus it’s fun to get to know yourself!) These posts should help!

This entry is part 5 of 5 in the series Charting Your Soul's Land

To live a passionate, purposeful life, the first step is to get to know yourself better.  Knowing your fundamental preferences, tendencies and traits – what makes up your soul’s land – allows you to start living from a more authentic place. “Get to know yourself better” is vague and it’s not always clear how to start, […]

Seeing Your Soul’s Land

March 20, 2016 by Liz Leave a Comment

This entry is part 2 of 5 in the series Charting Your Soul's Land

Questions and metaphors are two of the most powerful tools we have for revealing meaning and diving deeper into a complex subject, and there are few subjects more complex than knowing our deepest selves. Last week’s post introduced the idea of your soul’s land and invited you to begin charting that land with a series […]

Introducing Your Soul’s Land

March 13, 2016 by Liz Leave a Comment

This entry is part 1 of 5 in the series Charting Your Soul's Land

Do you know the feeling when you recognize some fundamental preference of yours and finally accept it? It might be the moment an introvert finally turns down his friend’s invitation to a bar crawl and stays home and writes instead. It might be the moment that an extrovert decides to leave the solitary work of accounting and […]

Your Life as a House

March 6, 2016 by Liz Leave a Comment

In my work with clients transitioning out of therapy, I use a metaphor to help make sense of the whole process of therapy and coaching and why we often need both in order to live the lives we dream of living. In the coming months, I’ve planned a series of posts around each of these phases […]

Embracing the Beauty of Darkness

December 20, 2015 by Liz Leave a Comment

The December Solstice is coming up tomorrow, Monday December 21st. As a resident of the Northern Hemisphere, this means Winter Solstice for me and the shortest day of the year. I’ve always loved Winter Solstice, with its chill and beautiful darkness. I love the traditions of celebrating it to welcome back the sun. It also gives […]

Creating Space

October 11, 2015 by Liz Leave a Comment

I’ve always had a thing for things (and especially clothes). When I flew to Los Angeles for my first year of college, I brought two 50 lbs. duffel bags, and two fully stuffed carry-ons. One  was so big that it couldn’t fit in the overhead compartment or underneath the seat in front of me – […]

Just Three Priorities

October 4, 2015 by Liz Leave a Comment

If I were to ask you to choose your top three priorities for the next year, would you panic? How about for the next week? I’ve been asking this of myself, with the expected resulting surges of fear. I stock up on legal pads because I think they make the perfect “to-do this weekend” list […]

The Passion Test

September 27, 2015 by Liz Leave a Comment

Back when I was desperately searching for my purpose, a former coach walked me through The Passion TestTM process developed by Janet & Chris Attwood. My greatest passion at that time? “Feeling connected to God.” I was so mad! I wanted a sexier, more interesting passion. I wanted a passion that translated into a career, […]
